Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Remote Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. The role involves reviewing complex patient records, assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to support proper reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, including operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS (US) or ICD-10, OPCS-4, SNOMED CT (UK) codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, NHS or payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query physicians or clinical staff, and resolve coding errors.
• Optimize reimbursement by correcting errors and addressing claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity, participate in audits, and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or the UK equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Proficient with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) and high-speed internet connection.
• Verified backup power supply (UPS or generator) and a quiet, HIPAA/GDPR-compliant workspace.
