Project Director – Civil Infrastructure

About the role

Mitrelli is looking for an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across Africa. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end management of civil infrastructure projects from planning through handover.
• Act as the primary liaison between Mitrelli and clients, contractors, consultants, and government authorities.
• Oversee contract negotiation, subcontractor agreements, claims resolution, change orders, and compliance with contractual obligations.
• Direct on‑site and off‑site construction activities, ensuring adherence to HSE standards, quality benchmarks, and project specifications.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, aligning them with organizational goals.
• Supervise and mentor project managers, engineers, and technical staff.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, develop contingency plans, and resolve issues promptly.
• Coordinate with legal, logistics, and procurement to meet permitting and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 15 years of senior‑level experience managing infrastructure projects, including at least 10 years on the contractor side.
• Proven experience in multicultural environments, preferably in Africa.
• Strong background in contract management, negotiation, and large‑scale project delivery.
