Site Lifting Specialist – Offshore Pipelay Vessel

About the role

This position supports a major deep‑water offshore development, focusing on the safe execution of handling and lifting operations aboard a pipelay installation vessel. The specialist will be directly involved in lift planning, equipment integrity, risk assessment and compliance for offshore installation, subsea structures, riser and umbilical activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review lift plans, risk assessments and Safe‑to‑Lift checklists for all lifting operations on the vessel.
• Monitor lift categories, validate procedures, and support audits, investigations and lessons‑learned processes.
• Provide technical guidance on the selection and safe use of offshore lifting equipment, including cranes, winches, slings and shackles.

Required profile

• Technical engineering qualification or industry‑related certification (LEEA, EAL or CPA).
• Minimum 10 years supervisory experience in lifting and handling, preferably in offshore oil & gas environments.
• Valid BOSIET or HUET certification and ability to work in a multicultural offshore setting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of international lifting standards (ASME, FME, DIN, NSL).
• Expertise with offshore lifting equipment – subsea cranes, offshore cranes, winches, slings, shackles.
• Ability to prepare and review risk assessments and lift plans.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills, including weekly/monthly lifting reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
