SURF Welding & NDT Quality Control Engineer

About the role

This 12‑month contract supports a major deep‑water offshore development in Angola, providing QA/QC surveillance for welding, NDT and AUT activities aboard an installation vessel. The role focuses on pipeline integrity, weld traceability and compliance with DNV‑ST‑F101 standards in a demanding SURF environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and verify welding processes (GMAW, FCAW) and ensure adherence to approved WPS and WPQR.
• Review and approve AUT ultrasonic testing reports, weld maps, repair histories and final acceptance documentation.
• Oversee NDT activities, maintain inspection records and manage non‑conformance reports (NCRs) and quality KPIs.
• Coordinate with installation teams on S‑Lay and J‑Lay pipeline welding, tie‑ins, stalk welding and repair operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of offshore pipeline fabrication and installation experience.
• At least 2 years in a QA/QC or AUT welding inspection role on pipelay or construction vessels.
• Valid AUT certification, BOSIET/HUET and offshore medical fitness.
• Proficiency in English; Portuguese or French is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of DNV‑ST‑F101 standards and weld‑traceability documentation.
