Geophysicist – Seismic & Reservoir Management
Azule Energy · Luanda
Job description
About the role
The Geophysicist will deliver high‑quality geophysical support across the full seismic lifecycle, ensuring subsurface insights guide appraisal, development, and reservoir management decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and document seismic databases, identify data gaps and recommend rejuvenation, reprocessing or new acquisition.
- Develop long‑term seismic strategies to support asset maturation and field development planning.
- Conduct value‑of‑information (VOI) assessments for seismic data and geophysical logging tools.
- Define survey objectives, acquisition geometries, environmental constraints and technical specifications for 3D and 4D surveys.
- Provide technical oversight during acquisition to ensure data quality, safety and industry compliance.
- Support seismic processing and reprocessing workflows, performing QC at each stage (velocity modelling, noise attenuation, de‑ghosting, multiple removal, advanced imaging).
- Interpret 3D/4D seismic data to delineate structures, stratigraphy, reservoir geometry and fluid distribution.
- Integrate seismic interpretation with well logs, core, production data and geological models.
- Generate structural maps, attribute analyses, AVO studies and seismic inversion products for reservoir characterization.
- Deliver geophysical risk assessments and subsurface hazard interpretation for well planning.
- Participate in well‑planning sessions, providing trajectory optimisation and real‑time geophysical advice.
- Evaluate 4D seismic data to monitor reservoir changes and integrate insights into history‑matching and enhanced recovery planning.
- Prepare and deliver clear technical presentations and reports to internal teams and partners.
Required profile
- Advanced experience in seismic interpretation and reservoir management.
- Strong quantitative geophysics background, including seismic inversion and AVO/AVA analysis.
- Proven ability to conduct VOI assessments and develop seismic acquisition strategies.
- Technical expertise in overseeing acquisition, processing and quality control activities.
