Cargo Supervisor

About the role

The Cargo Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all marine systems on an offshore facility. Reporting to the Marine Superintendent, the role ensures compliance with the Compliance Assurance Management System and maintains continuous communication with shore‑base, heliport, and maritime authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain marine systems, radio links, and stability monitoring equipment during shifts.
• Implement cargo and ballast plans, manage produced‑water discharge, and act as the Responsible Person for crude oil washing (COW) and gas‑freeing operations.
• Oversee off‑take equipment such as IGS systems, cargo pumps, meters, and provers, ensuring they function correctly.
• Conduct periodic inspections of cargo/hydraulic lines and calculate daily production figures using tank radar and manual ullage methods.
• Maintain facility keys, security systems, and handle all inbound/outbound communications with shore‑base, heliport, and maritime authorities.
• Provide meteorological updates to pilots and coordinate with shuttle tankers, OSVs, and ERRVs as directed.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of formal education, preferably a Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Merchant Marine/Marine Engineering.
• At least five years of relevant operating experience on an offshore facility with detailed knowledge of tanker operations.
• Chief Officer Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) with Tanker Endorsement and GMDSS Operator Certificate.
• Valid offshore medical, BOSIET/BOSIET‑T, CAA Radio Operator’s Certificate, and CAA Offshore Meteorological Observer Certificate.
