Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Aker Solutions, which delivers integrated solutions to the global energy industry, is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer in Luanda, Angola. The role assists the Lead or Principal engineer in meeting project requirements and performing technical duties competently and efficiently, while adhering to Aker's values, systems and processes including PEM and AKIiMS.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Task Lead Engineer when assigned, with overall responsibility for delivering multi-discipline or single-discipline engineering modifications or scope of work within a contract or project.
• Prepare engineering concepts and develop them into detailed design, and prepare CTR estimates and construction/installation procedures for structural scopes.
• Carry out manual and computer analysis, and prepare formal structural design calculations and reports.
• Review and check the work of others, carry out single and inter-discipline checks, and provide technical direction to drawing office personnel.
• Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning, and deputise for the principal engineer when needed.
• Provide engineering and technical direction for drawing office personnel, and attend meetings as required.

Required profile

• HNC/HND or degree level education in an engineering discipline, with Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
• Relevant professional experience.
• Ability to direct and guide engineers and designers, with good written and verbal communication and team-working skills.

Required skills

• Sound working knowledge of structural design codes such as AISC and API RP 2A.
• Working knowledge of engineering software such as STAAD Pro and Mathcad; basic knowledge of PDMS, Navisworks and AutoCAD.
• Current Offshore Survival Certificate and Current Offshore Medical Certificate.
