Operations Controller – Freight Forwarding

About the role

The Operations Controller will oversee end‑to‑end shipment handling, ensuring that all freight forwarding activities meet company policies, local legislation, and client expectations. You will act as the primary liaison between clients, service providers, and internal teams to guarantee smooth and compliant logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Open shipment files, allocate file numbers and secure landside, transport, and third‑party rates.
• Validate pre‑alert documents and perform quality control for completeness and accuracy.
• Capture and accrue all shipment‑related costs, including demurrage, detention, and storage, in the revenue month.
• Track shipments from indent to proof of delivery and support invoice payment processes.
• Communicate proactively with clients about shipment status and milestones.
• Coordinate end‑to‑end shipments, acting as the main contact for customs queries and ensuring compliance with global SOPs and business rules.
• Drive timely invoicing in collaboration with finance and global service centers.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics or equivalent.
• Customs clearance accreditation and freight forwarding certificate.
• At least 3 years of experience in import/export freight forwarding and clearing.
• Strong knowledge of Incoterms, customs requirements and forwarding industry practices.
• Familiarity with operational freight forwarding systems.
