Microsoft Dynamics GP Support Consultant

About the role

DescriptionWare is looking for a Microsoft Dynamics GP Support Consultant to support clients using Microsoft Dynamics GP across multiple versions and environments. The role focuses on functional support, client setup and configuration, troubleshooting, issue diagnosis and user support across the core GP application. It is a remote position requiring about 4 years of experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for Microsoft Dynamics GP clients and diagnose and resolve functional issues across core GP modules.
• Triage support cases, gather details, identify root causes and escalate technical or development issues with documented evidence.
• Help clients with configuration questions, transaction processing, posting errors, reporting and month-end/year-end processes.
• Use SQL queries to investigate data, validate transactions and support issue diagnosis.
• Work with clients to reproduce issues and confirm resolution steps, and document findings in the support case system.
• Support GP upgrades, environment reviews and post-upgrade issue resolution, and collaborate with consultants, developers and infrastructure teams.
• Configure and support GP client workstation installs, including launch, login, dictionary, connectivity, ODBC and environment access issues.
• Assist with client setup for new users, workstations, upgrades and environment changes, including shared dictionaries, forms/reports dictionaries, launch files and workstation settings.
• Diagnose connectivity issues to SQL Server, company databases, the Dynamics database and application servers, and support client/server version mismatches, missing dictionaries, broken shortcuts, crashes and login/security problems.
• Document repeatable client install, configuration and troubleshooting procedures.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics GP and familiarity with several versions, including older ones still in active use.
• Strong functional understanding of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory and Purchasing / Purchase Order Processing.
• Ability to troubleshoot posting, batch, transaction, setup and reporting issues.
• Comfortable communicating with end users, accounting teams, controllers and client stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to document issues and findings clearly.
• Customer service mindset and ability to manage support priorities.
• Not a developer, but able to provide developers or senior consultants with clear diagnostic information.

Required skills

• Preferred: ability to write and interpret basic to intermediate SQL queries, and familiarity with the GP database structure and common tables.
• Preferred: experience with GP client architecture, troubleshooting client issues across workstations, terminal servers, Citrix/RDS and local installs, and GP security and login troubleshooting.
• Preferred: knowledge of additional GP modules (Fixed Assets, Analytical Accounting, Management Reporter, SmartList Designer, Integration Manager, eReconnect, Modifier, Workflow, Manufacturing, Project Accounting, Field Service, Collections, EFT, third-party modules) and reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI or Excel-based reporting.
