Drilling Engineer

About the role

The Drilling Engineer joins SLB’s Product and Service Delivery team to design and optimise well construction solutions for customers. The role focuses on delivering safe, efficient and cost‑effective drilling programs while supporting operations from planning through execution and post‑job analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise technical well construction designs and drilling programs.
• Identify and implement innovative, cost‑effective engineering solutions to improve operational performance.
• Provide technical expertise and support throughout planning, execution and post‑job phases.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to ensure optimal design, risk mitigation and resource utilisation.
• Support operational teams by managing design revisions due to changing well conditions or resource availability.
• Participate in incident response, investigations and root‑cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.
• Work across multiple business lines to create integrated well construction solutions.
• Assist commercial and sales teams with technical feasibility studies, tender preparation and engineering input for customer engagements.
• Analyse operational performance against design objectives and capture lessons learned and optimisation opportunities.
• Monitor and manage Cost of Service Delivery (COSD) through efficient resource planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience in drilling, well construction or related oil‑field engineering disciplines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset for evaluating performance data and identifying improvement opportunities.
