Customs Shipping Technician

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Customs Shipping Technician to join its Procurement Department. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will support the international logistics chain, ensuring efficient shipping and customs processes for both projects and asset materials.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain procedures for shipping, customs clearance, and packing of goods.
• Prepare technical enquiry packages for shipping and customs services.
• Assist the Shipping and Customs Manager in planning activities for project and asset material movements.
• Review transport scope, create transport plans, and select optimal transport modes based on weight, dimensions, route, schedule, and cost.
• Allocate shipments to existing transport agreements and forwarders when pricing and service criteria are met.
• When standard agreements do not apply, generate dedicated purchase requests for special transports (oversize, urgent, or unique destinations) after manager approval.

Required profile

• Experience in international logistics, shipping, or customs operations.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate transport options and costs.
• Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and external freight forwarders.
• Attention to detail for documentation and compliance.
