Chief Accountant (Expat) – Luanda, Angola

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant (Expat) to lead the finance and accounting function for a well‑established operation in Luanda, Angola. This hands‑on leadership role covers end‑to‑end financial reporting, statutory compliance, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own and execute day‑to‑day financial recording, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely closing.
• Lead the full month‑end close process, including journals, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
• Manage the Finance & Control function (AP, AR, Treasury, Payroll, Accounting Operations).
• Ensure full compliance with Angolan accounting, fiscal, and legal requirements.
• Develop and maintain cost‑centre reporting (actuals vs. budget).
• Partner with operational and factory teams to ensure accurate costing and margin control.
• Build strong relationships with banks, auditors, fiscal authorities, suppliers, and customers.
• Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and financial controls.
• Support financial planning, analysis, and management reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or CPA is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 + years experience as a Chief Accountant, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong working knowledge of Angolan accounting standards, fiscal laws, and local regulations.
• Prior international or emerging‑market experience highly preferred.
• Proven leadership experience managing multi‑functional finance teams.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese; Hindi and Arabic are a plus.
