Cargo Supervisor – Marine Operations

About the role

The Cargo Supervisor leads the safe and efficient execution of cargo and cargo‑utility operations on board SBM Offshore vessels. Reporting to the Cargo Superintendent, the role ensures that all marine cargo activities are carried out in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, start, monitor, and shut down marine and cargo operations.
• Supervise Cargo Operators, GP Foremen, crane drivers and subcontractors.
• Coordinate cargo loading, off‑loading and maintenance activities with the OIM and Cargo Superintendent.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PTW, risk assessments and inspections.
• Delegate tasks to competent personnel and verify proper close‑out.
• Promote training, competency assurance and safety awareness within the department.
• Manage audit and survey actions, ensuring timely resolution.
• Contribute to tank entry, inspection and maintenance reporting.

Required profile

• Strong leadership with a focus on technical and safety issues.
• Ability to liaise effectively with on‑shore and offshore departments.
• Experience delegating authority while ensuring competence.
• Commitment to fostering training, competency and safety culture.
• Proven capability to handle audit findings and implement corrective actions.

Required skills

• Ballast Control Operator (BCO) certification (equivalent to Res. A.1079(28) Reg. 6.4).
