About the role
Join Baker Hughes as an AMO Services Specialist Intern in Angola and gain hands‑on experience in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic maintenance within a global energy environment. You will work on real projects, receive technical training and collaborate with experienced engineers to support offshore and on‑site operations.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on HVAC systems, pumps, conveyors and other mechanical components.
- Diagnose machinery malfunctions and execute effective repairs to minimise downtime.
- Identify and repair faults in electrical, hydraulic and fiber‑optic control systems, both in workshops and offshore settings.
- Maintain detailed service records using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assemble, test and validate subsea control modules (SCMs), Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs) and electrical distribution hardware.
- Conduct electrical testing such as Insulation Resistance, continuity, HV/LV and Time‑Domain Reflectometry.
- Perform hydraulic pressure testing and flushing procedures.
Required profile
- Graduated within the last 2 years with a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics, Hydraulics, IT or a related field.
- GPA of at least 3.0/5.0 (or equivalent).
- Fluent in oral and written English.
- Legal right to work in Angola without restrictions.
- Strong communication skills, proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
Required skills
- HVAC, pump and conveyor maintenance.
- Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic diagnostics.
- Fiber‑optic control system troubleshooting.
- Use of CMMS for maintenance tracking.
- Assembly and testing of subsea control modules and Hydraulic Power Units.
- Electrical testing: Insulation Resistance, continuity, HV/LV, Time‑Domain Reflectometry.
- Hydraulic pressure testing and flushing.
- Reading schematics, P&IDs and technical drawings.
- Basic computer skills for reporting.
