Technical Officer (Immunization)

About the role

The WHO Country Office in Angola is seeking a Technical Officer to lead the operationalisation of the National Immunization Strategy 2026‑2030. The incumbent will work closely with the Ministry of Health and partners to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans and ensure high‑quality immunisation services across national, provincial and municipal levels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical support for the implementation of Angola’s NIS, developing annual operational plans with costed timelines and accountability frameworks.
• Provide WHO technical inputs for Gavi grant management, including preparation of progress reports and performance framework updates.
• Guide the Ministry of Health and provincial directorates on routine immunisation planning, budgeting, implementation and evaluation.
• Strengthen equity‑focused micro‑planning at provincial and municipal levels, designing outreach schedules and strategies to reach zero‑dose and under‑immunised children.
• Promote integration of immunisation services within primary health‑care platforms, linking with antenatal, post‑natal, nutrition and community health worker programmes.
• Lead design and implementation of routine immunisation intensification initiatives such as RED/REC, immunisation weeks and targeted catch‑up activities.
• Support planning and introduction of new vaccines into routine schedules.
• Strengthen planning, implementation and monitoring of supplemental immunisation activities and campaign‑based vaccination.

Required profile

• Experience in public‑health immunisation programmes, preferably within a WHO or Ministry of Health context.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi‑level health systems and coordinate with national and sub‑national stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and planning skills to develop costed operational plans and monitor performance.
