Senior Road Safety Campaigns / Vulnerable Users Expert

About the role

NTU International is looking for a senior expert to lead road safety awareness and behavioural‑change campaigns across the ECOWAS region. The role will support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance project aimed at improving transport governance and protecting vulnerable road users in West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement road‑safety awareness campaigns and behavioural‑change initiatives targeting pedestrians, cyclists, women, youth and persons with disabilities.
• Provide technical assistance on communication strategies, public outreach, and stakeholder engagement for transport authorities and civil‑society partners.
• Integrate vulnerable‑user considerations into transport policies, corridor management plans and climate‑resilience measures.
• Develop communication materials, tools and public‑information products, and contribute to road‑safety studies, analytical reports and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate workshops, consultations and capacity‑building activities with ministries, NGOs, media and development partners.
• Monitor, report and evaluate the impact of awareness campaigns and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in communications, public health, social sciences, transport safety, behavioural sciences or a related field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in road‑safety campaigns, public‑awareness programmes or social‑inclusion projects.
• Proven experience working on transport or road‑safety projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with donor‑funded international development programmes.
