Mission Home Custodian

About the role

This position provides essential custodial support for mission facilities, ensuring a clean, safe, and reverent environment for worship, teaching, and community activities. The custodian works directly with mission leaders to maintain both the residential and public areas of the mission.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors.
• Operate cleaning equipment including buffers, carpet cleaners, and vacuums.
• Maintain residential spaces: make beds, launder linens, and arrange living areas for missionaries and leaders.
• Set up meeting rooms, replace draperies, chandeliers, and lights as requested.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely using gloves, masks, and other protective gear.
• Report maintenance issues to the facilities management team.
• Work unsupervised while following safety and equipment‑usage training.

Required profile

• Current and valid temple recommend or equivalent worthiness certification.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written English instructions.
• Physical fitness to lift up to 50 lb, climb steps, and work at heights.
• Basic computer literacy for reporting and task organization.

Required skills

• Operation of buffers, carpet cleaners, and vacuum equipment.
• Use of cleaning chemicals with appropriate safety gear.
• Basic computer skills for task tracking.
• Ability to prioritize and organize cleaning tasks.
