Marine Surveyor – Ships in Service (Angola)

About the role
The Marine Surveyor will conduct quality inspections of ships that are in service or under construction, ensuring compliance with classification society rules, international maritime regulations and national standards. This position supports the classification and statutory survey programme for vessels operating in or transiting Angola.
Key responsibilities
- Perform classification, certification and statutory surveys on ships according to BV rules, IACS requirements and local regulations.
- Carry out ISM, ISPS and MLC audits as assigned by the supervisor.
- Prepare accurate survey reports and certificates, adhering to prescribed formats and deadlines.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of new rules, regulations and technical information disseminated internally.
- Participate in internal and external meetings and represent the survey team when required.
- Complete all scheduled training courses, both locally and overseas, and achieve delegated authorisations.
- Submit time and expense sheets promptly and accurately.
Required profile
- Degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering or equivalent marine‑related qualification.
- 2‑5 years of experience conducting ship surveys, classification or statutory inspections.
- Strong communication, networking and influencing abilities.
- Ability to motivate team members and demonstrate good business acumen.
- Fluent English proficiency.
Required skills
- Knowledge of BV classification rules and IACS standards.
- Experience with ISM, ISPS and MLC audit procedures.
- Marine engineering fundamentals.
