Logistics Operations Technical Director

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal port, sea and rail logistics operator now part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent Logistics Operations Technical Director in Luanda, Angola. The role supports the Operations Director in the technical management of equipment and vehicles, covering maintenance, organisation, budget and KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Operations Director with the technical management of AGL Angola equipment and vehicles.
• Define the maintenance policy for cargo-handling equipment and tooling, including lifting and wheeled equipment.
• Develop organisation charts and budgets, set objectives for each workshop employee and identify and manage all maintenance requirements.
• Organise, lead and control department activities so that duties, procedures and HSE requirements are formalised and applied.
• Supervise maintenance, routine servicing and preventive maintenance, focusing on profitability.
• Design and run indicators and dashboards to monitor the Technical Department and define improvement objectives.
• Manage technical operations and expenditure, optimising productivity, quality, lead times, costs and safety.
• Implement a monitoring system for malfunctions and their causes, and manage the budget.
• Coordinate equipment orders and installation, implement preventive maintenance and promote staff motivation and performance appraisals.
• Participate in recruiting and training the team and draft job descriptions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, Management or a related field.
• Postgraduate qualification or Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Management preferred.
• At least 15 years of experience in logistics operations, including at least 5 years in a senior management or Director-level position.
• Fluency in Portuguese; English preferred, French is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of logistics management systems and IT solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
