Legal Manager – Angola & DRC

About the role

JTI is seeking a Legal Manager to oversee all legal matters for its operations in Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role involves providing legal advice to senior management, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with local laws and corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory guidance to business units to support compliant decision‑making.
• Support the Legal Director in monitoring legal compliance and updating internal policies.
• Coordinate with external counsel on litigation, arbitration, and mediation to minimise exposure.
• Handle company secretarial duties and advise the Board on corporate governance.
• Draft, review, and maintain contracts and memoranda, ensuring enforceability.
• Participate in the Integrated Management System and EHS processes, reporting risks and incidents.

Required profile

• Law degree (LL.B or equivalent) with admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction; LL.M is an asset.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal administration or corporate law.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and proficiency in French.
