Legal Counsel

About the role

Perform work independently and provide legal expertise to support a variety of projects, anticipating legal issues, prioritising concerns and recommending preventive measures.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure corporate compliance with the laws of Angola and Bermuda and implement Angola LNG corporate policies.
• Support senior legal leadership in corporate governance, operating agreements and shareholder agreements.
• Manage external legal counsel and oversee the accuracy of filings and annual compliance reports.
• Provide legal advice on contracting, procurement, and risk management for ALNG Ltd. assets.
• Conduct periodic audits of contracts to verify compliance with policies and regulations.
• Handle disputes, arbitration, litigation, claims and other judicial matters on behalf of ALNG Limited.
• Assist operating companies with employment policies, major disputes, and development of contract templates.
• Develop expertise in contracts, corporate governance, litigation, licensing, and project concessions, becoming the primary point of contact for these areas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Legal Advisor or Lawyer, preferably in the oil and gas sector and an international environment.
• Solid knowledge of Angolan legislation and ability to stay current with legal changes.
• Experience with commercial and project contracting, multi‑party negotiations, procurement and tendering processes.
• Familiarity with international tax, regulatory compliance, antitrust and anti‑corruption regulations.
• Ability to provide corporate secretarial services for Angolan and offshore entities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.
