Gender Specialist

About the role

The Gender Specialist will support UNICEF Angola’s Gender Programming Agenda, contributing to gender‑responsive and gender‑transformative programming across sectors. Reporting to the Chief of Child Protection, the role focuses on evidence generation, capacity strengthening, and partnership coordination to advance gender equality.

Key responsibilities

• Apply a gender lens to project planning, data analysis and research, integrating findings into country programmes.
• Support research, monitoring and evaluation of cross‑sectoral gender initiatives and ensure gender considerations in funding proposals.
• Strengthen capacity of Gender Focal Points, facilitate Gender Working Group activities and monitor the Country Office Gender Action Plan.
• Promote the use of UNICEF GAP III tools and guidelines, and contribute to gender‑sensitive reporting and advocacy.
• Coordinate with UN agencies, civil society and women’s/youth networks, and document best practices in gender programming.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Public Policy, International Development or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in gender programming, research, monitoring or evaluation.
• Fluent Portuguese and working knowledge of English.
