Environmental Engineer – HSE Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Environmental Engineer with a Health and Safety certification to join Zutari’s projects in Angola. The role supports environmental compliance, occupational health and safety performance, and sustainable project delivery across planning, construction and operational phases.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Construction EMPs, Waste Management Plans, erosion and sediment control, spill prevention and response, and rehabilitation requirements.
• Monitor compliance with environmental licences, permits, project specifications, contractor method statements, client HSE requirements and Angolan legislation.
• Conduct routine site inspections and audits covering waste handling, hazardous substance storage, water pollution prevention, dust suppression, noise control, vegetation clearing, camp and lay‑down area housekeeping, and spill control.
• Identify non‑conformances, track corrective actions to closure and support environmental monitoring, record‑keeping and reporting.
• Support implementation of project HSE plans and safe work procedures, including incident investigation and contractor compliance oversight.

Required profile

• Qualified Environmental Engineer with a valid Health and Safety certification.
• Proven experience in environmental management and HSE compliance within Angolan project environments.
• Strong site awareness, sound technical judgment and ability to work with project teams, contractors and clients.
