Engine Room Technician

About the role

Saipem is seeking an experienced Engine Room Technician to join its offshore operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing and controlling complex engine‑room activities, ensuring all machinery runs according to technical specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and monitor engine‑room operations, maintaining continuous surveillance of all equipment.
• Prepare machinery for start‑up and shutdown procedures following company protocols.
• Perform welding, metal‑treatment, and workshop fabrication of complex replacement parts.
• Carry out mechanical interventions and maintenance on pumps, compressors, purifiers, auxiliary marine engines, and related systems.
• Report any non‑conformance or anomalies immediately to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Technical High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5‑6 years of proven experience in an offshore environment such as FPSO, drillship, or platform.
• Fluent English for daily communication and technical documentation.

Required skills

• Overhauling, troubleshooting, and laser alignment of pumps, compressors, purifiers, and auxiliary marine engines.
• Reading circuit diagrams, fault‑finding, and repairing high‑pressure hydraulic packs and pneumatic control valves.
• Operation of workshop machinery (lathes, milling machines, grinders) for part fabrication.
• Welding and metal‑treatment equipment proficiency.
• Execution of mechanical isolations and safety boundary placements.
• Logging work orders, tracking preventive maintenance, and managing spare‑parts inventory using SAP PM, Maximo, or AMOS.
• Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
