Director General

About the role

The Director General leads Esplendor Florestal, an Angolan sustainable forestry company backed by the sovereign wealth fund. The role is responsible for overall leadership, operational performance and commercial delivery of plantation development, timber production, natural capital, community and compliance objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Implement strategic and annual operating plans, translating Board priorities into budgets, targets and work programmes.
• Oversee plantation establishment, nursery production, silviculture, harvesting, transport, processing and timber marketing.
• Coordinate land, labour, machinery and contractors to deliver programmes safely, on time and within budget.
• Maintain operational plans, systems, procedures and field controls.
• Manage budgeting, performance reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Build a high‑performing, safety‑conscious culture and strengthen governance and risk management.

Required profile

• Proven senior executive experience in large‑scale forestry or natural‑resource operations.
• Track record of delivering commercial results while meeting environmental and social standards.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Ability to translate board strategy into practical execution.
• Experience working with sovereign or state‑owned entities is a plus.
