3rd Engineer

About the role

The 3rd Engineer assists in operating, maintaining and repairing the vessel’s machinery and engineering systems, ensuring a safe and efficient engine room while supporting DP and offshore operations.

Key responsibilities

• Stand engine room watches, monitor main and auxiliary machinery, alarms and control systems.
• Carry out planned and corrective maintenance, record work in the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and keep engine room logs accurate.
• Assist with fuel, lube oil and fresh water bunkering, transfers and soundings.
• Report defects, faults and spare‑part needs, and participate in drills, emergency response and safety duties.
• Support dry‑docking, surveys, inspections and audits including class, flag and client audits.

Required profile

• STCW Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch, III/1 Certificate of Competency.
• Valid seafarer’s medical certificate and basic STCW safety courses.
• Advanced Fire Fighting and Medical First Aid certifications.
• Offshore certificates as required: BOSIET/FOET, HUET, H2S.
• Engineering degree or diploma (marine or mechanical) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with engine room monitoring systems and alarms.
• Experience using Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for maintenance recording.
• Knowledge of fuel, lube oil and fresh water bunkering procedures.
