2nd Engineer (Marine)

About the role

The 2nd Engineer will support the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment on board. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the role is based on‑site in Cabinda and involves monitoring engine‑room performance, troubleshooting issues and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor engine‑room performance and conduct routine inspections.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities.
• Manage spare parts, technical documentation and equipment records.
• Coordinate with other departments to minimise downtime.
• Participate in emergency drills, equipment start‑up and shutdown procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of operational procedures.

Required profile

• Solid knowledge of marine engineering systems including propulsion, auxiliary machinery, power generation and fuel systems.
• Experience in maintenance planning and troubleshooting in an offshore or marine environment.
• Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL and class‑rule regulations and a commitment to safe work practices.
• Strong technical documentation skills and ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs.
• Relevant marine engineering licence or certification for a 2nd Engineer, with valid medical and safety certificates.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding setting with rotating shifts and extended periods offshore.
