Engine Room Supervisor - FPSO Kaombo South

About the role

Saipem is recruiting an Engine Room Supervisor for its FPSO Kaombo South project in offshore Angola. The post operates a ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW or more and supervises the engine department next in rank to the Chief Engineer, acting as second in charge and assisting the Chief Engineer in keeping the ship running efficiently in line with international conventions, flag state, class, local and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Chief Engineer and keep up to date with company requirements, industry codes and standards, and carry out technical and maintenance work in line with the Vessel Management Manual
• Ensure the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) is applied to survey, test and maintain all machinery and equipment, including emergency and safety systems
• Supervise bunkering and offloading of fuel and oil, and help order spare parts in consultation with the Chief Engineer
• Report unsafe acts, conditions and defects to the Chief Engineer, and take part in the vessel emergency team as required
• Ensure the permit-to-work system, isolation and confined space entry procedures are followed, and train the crew of the duty shift
• Assign work instructions and duties to the engine crew, take over the watch and support the Chief Engineer with engine-related quality tasks
• Manage engine room materials certificates and coordinate with the asset project quality control during vessel maintenance

Required profile

• Minimum three years as an Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch (expert seniority)
• At least one year of offshore experience, unless a Chief Engineer rank has previously been held on merchant vessels
• National CoC Reg. III/2 education and STCW certificates, including the MOU stability course where applicable
• English language skills
