Economist – Fiscal Policy & Growth (Luanda)

About the role

The World Bank is seeking an Economist to join its Fiscal Policy and Growth (FPG) practice in Luanda, Angola. The role supports analytical work and lending operations across 14 Southern and Eastern African countries, focusing on macro‑fiscal policy, debt sustainability, and inclusive growth.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct macro‑fiscal and structural reform analysis for client countries.
• Prepare policy papers, technical notes, and lending documents.
• Engage with ministries of finance, planning, and trade to design reform agendas.
• Support Development Policy Operations and other financing instruments.
• Collaborate with the FPG Practice Manager and regional teams.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, public policy, or a related field.
• Experience in macro‑fiscal analysis, debt management, or development finance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, multi‑country environment.

Required skills

• Analytical and quantitative research skills.
• Proficiency with economic data analysis tools.
