About the role
The Sustainable Livelihoods and Institutional Capacity Specialist will support the Kurima initiative in Angola, strengthening rural livelihoods and youth employment along the Lobito Corridor through agribusiness, digital agriculture and market access. The role focuses on empowering youth and women, building institutional capacity and promoting climate‑smart, technology‑driven solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Support delivery of livelihoods, agribusiness and cooperative activities and coordinate with government, private sector and community stakeholders.
- Strengthen cooperatives and local institutions, providing capacity‑building in sustainable agriculture and promoting KAIZEN continuous‑improvement approaches.
- Assist youth‑ and women‑led enterprises with selection, mentoring, monitoring and market‑access support.
- Prepare reports, knowledge products and document lessons learned and best practices.
- Engage with government, private sector, development partners and Japanese stakeholders, facilitating workshops and stakeholder consultations.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in livelihoods, rural development or economic development programmes.
- Bachelor’s degree in development, economics, agriculture, rural development or a related field.
- Fluent English (required) and knowledge of gender equality and youth inclusion.
- Strong analytical, reporting and organisational abilities.

What we offer
- UN Volunteers living allowance of US$ 3,050 – US$ 3,500 per month (not a salary, not publicly visible).
