About the role
The Planning Controls Manager will lead project controls, planning and progress management for a major offshore deep‑water subsea redevelopment and exploration programme off the northern coast of Angola. The role coordinates integrated schedules, risk assessments and earned‑value tracking across international engineering centres and local offshore execution teams.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and govern the Integrated Master Schedule (Level 1‑4) for all EPCI phases, including subsea tie‑backs, platform modifications and deep‑water logistics.
- Audit and approve baseline schedules submitted by EPCI partners and subsea alliances, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
- Perform critical‑path analysis, variance reporting and scenario modelling to mitigate schedule slippage.
- Establish and run Earned Value Management (EVM) systems to measure physical progress against capital budgets and vessel charter days.
- Oversee resource optimisation, including manpower curves, vessel utilisation and equipment delivery pipelines.
- Conduct quantitative risk analyses (Monte Carlo simulations) to define schedule contingency and support decision‑making.
- Prepare executive dashboards, KPI reports and monthly progress assessments for joint‑venture partners.
- Lead baseline change‑control processes, evaluating schedule impacts of scope variations, brownfield integration and weather disruptions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related technical field.
- 12‑15 years of project controls/planning experience on large‑scale upstream oil & gas projects.
- At least 5 years in a managerial or lead role.
- Proven experience in deep‑water offshore and subsea tie‑back projects.
