Operations Cost Controller

About the role

The Operations Cost Controller ensures the unit runs cost‑effectively by monitoring expenses, developing budgets and providing accurate financial reports. You will support management decision‑making and guarantee compliance with audit and financial standards within SBM Offshore’s offshore energy business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the three‑year budget preparation by gathering maintenance plans, OPEX history, performance data and inflation assumptions.
• Monitor and analyse unit costs, breaking them down by department, project and period, using spreadsheets and financial management software.
• Review the budget with the unit manager, adjust forecasts as needed and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Prepare monthly cost‑control reports, including rolling forecasts, variance analysis, cash projections and budget‑vs‑actual comparisons.
• Present reports to on‑shore and off‑shore operations teams and the consolidation reporting team.
• Manage purchase‑order approval, ensuring budget allocation is clear and tracking orders throughout their lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost control, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across on‑shore and off‑shore teams.
