Maintenance Superintendent

About the role

The Maintenance Superintendent leads the maintenance and condition monitoring activities on SBM Offshore vessels, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and promote the company Management System, safety policies and change management procedures.
• Manage vessel systems through supervisors and technicians, overseeing training, competency, welfare and disciplinary matters.
• Ensure compliance with Permit‑to‑Work, risk assessments, class, flag and port‑state requirements, and maintain vessel operational status.
• Supervise project, subcontract and vendor personnel, control parts inventories using CMMS and drive efficiency improvements.
• Coordinate with department heads to maximise uptime, control costs and manage client and subcontractor relationships.
• Lead emergency response drills, incident investigations and post‑exercise reviews.

Required profile

• HND or degree in an engineering discipline, or STCW III/2 Chief Engineer Officer qualification.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Maintenance Superintendent or equivalent offshore operations role.
• Proven knowledge of safety management in hydrocarbon processing and utility systems.
• Experience supervising Permit‑to‑Work, mechanical/electrical isolation and risk assessment processes.
• Proficiency in English (minimum B2 CEFR) and medically fit for offshore work.
