HSE Area Manager/Coordinator

About the role

KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is seeking an experienced HSE Area Manager/Coordinator to lead health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) initiatives on a multi‑billion‑dollar industrial project in Lobito, Angola. The role is pivotal for proactive risk identification, incident remediation and ensuring the project meets zero‑harm objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Define project HSE objectives, programs and performance measurement standards.
• Provide timely response and remediation of incidents, and drive proactive risk mitigation across the global organization.
• Allocate adequate resources for all project phases to achieve HSSE goals.
• Document, implement and enforce HSSE policies, plans and procedures.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and communicate findings to senior leadership.
• Monitor leading and lagging safety metrics to predict and prevent future incidents.
• Hire, onboard and guide safety managers, fostering a Zero Harm culture.
• Develop and deliver training programs for contractors and regional safety managers.
• Serve as the primary contact for safety data, analytics and program progress reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, HSE or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HSE experience on large‑scale industrial projects.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to support HSSE systems and comply with local, national and international regulations.
• High attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
