General Manager - Processing Plant

About the role

Consulmet is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead a metallurgical processing plant in a remote African mining site. The role combines operational leadership, safety oversight, and client relationship management to ensure the plant meets production and performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management of the processing plant.
• Drive production to achieve contractual targets while optimising plant availability and metallurgical performance.
• Lead maintenance planning and execution to maximise equipment reliability.
• Manage operational budgets, cost control and procurement of consumables and critical spares.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Develop and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives and production strategies.
• Monitor KPIs, prepare operational reports and act as senior site representative to clients.

Required profile

• Strong metallurgical background with extensive hands‑on plant experience.
• Proven senior leadership and decision‑making abilities in remote, rural mining environments.
• Experience living and working abroad, adapting to different cultures.
• Resilience and emotional maturity to operate under challenging social and environmental conditions.
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
