Environment, Health and Safety Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health and Safety (HSE) Manager to lead HSE management during the construction phase of our Angola project. You will ensure that all project activities are performed safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with legal, contractual, ESIA/ESMP and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the rollout of the HSE Management Plan and related occupational health, safety, environmental and social management plans across the project.
• Advise Project and Site Managers on HSE risks, controls and performance priorities.
• Develop and enforce the OHS Management Plan, covering high‑risk activities such as work at height, lifting, excavation and heavy equipment.
• Conduct inspections, audits, incident and near‑miss investigations and track corrective actions.
• Oversee waste management, spill prevention, water protection and environmental monitoring.
• Manage community health and safety aspects, coordinate grievances with the Social Management Team and CLOs.
• Develop emergency response arrangements and run drills.
• Plan and deliver HSE inductions and training for employees, contractors and visitors.
• Ensure contractors and subcontractors comply with project HSE requirements.
• Maintain controlled HSE documentation and liaise with regulatory authorities.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of HSE experience on major construction or EPC projects, preferably in power, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
• Degree in HSE, occupational safety, environmental science, engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of OHS, environmental management, emergency preparedness, contractor HSE management and audit processes.
• Excellent communication skills with project teams, contractors, authorities and communities.
• Good command of English; Portuguese is a strong advantage.
• Professional HSE certification and auditor training are a plus.
