Engine Room Supervisor - FPSO Kaombo South

About the role

Saipem is recruiting an Engine Room Supervisor for the FPSO Kaombo South project in offshore Angola. The post operates a ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW or more and supervises the engine department next in rank to the Chief Engineer, acting as second in charge and assisting the Chief Engineer in keeping the ship running efficiently in line with international conventions, flag state, class, local and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Chief Engineer and keep up to date with company requirements, industry codes and statutory rules, ensuring all technical and maintenance work follows the Vessel Management Manual
• Ensure the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) is applied to survey, test and maintain all machinery and equipment, including emergency and safety systems
• Supervise bunkering and offloading of fuel and oil, and help order spare parts in consultation with the Chief Engineer
• Report unsafe acts, conditions and defects to the Chief Engineer and act within the vessel emergency team as required
• Ensure the permit-to-work system, isolation and confined space entry procedures are followed, and train the crew of the duty shift and hand over to relieving officers
• Assign work instructions and duties to the engine crew, take immediate action to avoid pollution, and maintain safe working practices
• Monitor and prevent environmental pollution in line with MARPOL, take over the watch per company procedure, and support the Chief Engineer with engine-related quality tasks, calibration management and material certificate traceability
• Coordinate with the asset project quality control during vessel maintenance inspections

Required profile

• National CoC Reg. III/2 certificate and completion of the training matrix, including the MOU stability course where applicable
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience as an Engine Room Supervisor or 2nd Engineer in the oil and gas industry
• English language skills

Required skills

• STCW certificates, including National CoC Reg. III/2 and endorsement
• Knowledge of engine room and production equipment, MARPOL and vessel emergency procedures
