Senior HR Advisor - Angola

About the role

A Senior HR Advisor is sought in Luanda, Angola, on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the HRBP Africa, the role sits within the Global Project Centre (GPC) East region and delivers HR support across Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Namibia. It provides day-to-day HR generalist advice and support to employees and managers in Southern Africa, ensuring compliance with local labour legislation and global company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure HR practices comply with local legislation and corporate governance standards, and give expert advice and coaching on HR policies and employee relations
• Escalate complex matters to the HR Business Partner and support the day-to-day operations of the HR function
• Help implement initiatives that build constructive employee relations and coordinate HR processes with local HR Employee Services and payroll
• Embed the performance management review process, support line managers with it, and document training needs with the Learning and Development team
• Manage the employee life cycle, oversee onboarding, and track and coordinate HR administration with the HR Resource Centre
• Maximise the use of HR information systems, ensure data protection and confidentiality, and support global HR initiatives such as compensation and benefits, recruitment and HR policy
• Analyse employee engagement survey results, support payroll activities with the Payroll Team, and take on ad hoc projects as directed by the HR Business Partner

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum 5-8 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in international or Oil & Gas/Energy companies
• Deep understanding of Southern Africa labour laws and HR best practices
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently and in a team, with excellent written and verbal English

Required skills

• SAP HR modules and SuccessFactors (Employee Central, Recruiting)
• Payroll processes, including shadow payroll, withholding tax (WHT) and Southern Africa declarations
• Desirable: matrix/multinational experience, global mobility (expatriation and repatriation), and Oil & Gas HR challenges such as rotational workforces and remote sites
