Data Engineer – Regulatory Reporting (6‑12 month contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support a leading bank in Angola with its regulatory reporting to the National Bank of Angola (BNA). The role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines that ensure accurate, compliant, and timely information for finance, risk, and compliance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support migration, automation, and management of regulatory reporting processes in line with BNA requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines across core banking systems, data reservoir, data warehouse and other enterprise sources.
• Ensure data quality, traceability and consistency for regulatory data products.
• Implement automated validation and reconciliation processes to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Data Governance to document metadata, business rules and data lineage.
• Maintain compliance with privacy, security and regulatory standards, including data anonymisation and access controls.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and optimise performance, scalability and automation of data processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, postgraduate or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data science, with strong background in process automation.
• Experience working in banking or regulated environments is a plus.

Required skills

• ETL/ELT pipeline design and maintenance (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Airflow, Control‑M).
• Data modelling, data warehouse and data lake concepts.
• Advanced SQL and Python programming.
• Working with XML, JSON, Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Process automation and orchestration tools.
