Resident Wells Subsea Engineer – Luanda

About the role

The Resident Wells Subsea Engineer will be based in Luanda and will provide technical support, assurance and operational oversight for all subsea well equipment and related operations within the client’s Drilling & Wells Department. The role covers drilling, completion, intervention, work‑over and well hand‑over activities on both deep‑water drillships and shallow‑water jack‑up rigs, ensuring compliance with standards, regulations and well‑integrity requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support for subsea‑related well activities including drilling, completion, work‑over, intervention, suspension, abandonment and hand‑over.
• Oversee subsea wellhead systems, casing and tubing hangers, subsea Christmas trees, tree caps, running tools and associated interfaces.
• Manage BOP stack, LMRP, riser, choke and kill lines, control pods and subsea control system interfaces.
• Coordinate subsea distribution systems such as umbilicals, EFL/HFL, MQC plates, flying leads, jumpers and connectors.
• Plan and execute subsea isolation, de‑isolation, disconnection, parking, recovery and reconnection activities.
• Support rig‑to‑subsea equipment interfaces for deep‑water drillships and jack‑up supported operations.
• Prepare, review and execute subsea procedures, programmes, risk assessments, Management of Change (MOC) and operational readiness reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in subsea well engineering and offshore drilling environments.
• Familiarity with deep‑water and shallow‑water subsea operations and equipment.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements and OEM recommendations.
