Virtualization Engineer – 3‑Week Onsite Project in Angola

About the role

South6 is seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer to join a 3‑week onsite assignment in Angola, supporting a cyber‑security remediation effort. The role is open to U.S.‑based candidates and includes covered travel expenses, though travel time is unpaid.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and administer VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
• Create virtual machines, templates and manage advanced ESXi features such as migrations, HA, DRS, SDRS and clustering.
• Set up and troubleshoot vSphere storage replication, HA/DRS configurations.
• Perform command‑line operations on ESXi and VCSA, and analyse logs to identify root causes.
• Manage VMware vRealize Automation (VRA) and vRealize Orchestrator (VRO) integrations with vCenter.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of system administration experience in a multi‑vendor environment.
• 3 years of experience with server implementation, virtualization and Microsoft Active Directory.
• Hands‑on experience with VMware solutions such as Horizon, vRealize Operations, vRealize Automation and NSX.
• Solid understanding of storage concepts including block, file, iSCSI, fiber‑channel zoning and SAN administration.
• Experience with a VMware‑centric backup solution, preferably Veeam.
