Tuning Lead - RF Optimization

About the role

Careers in Africa is recruiting a Tuning Lead in Luanda, Angola, in the telecommunications sector. The role drives improvements in methods, processes and guidelines within the customer organization, provides technical support in customer discussions and workshops, and leads network tuning and optimization projects.

Key responsibilities

• Drive changes in methods, processes and guidelines within the customer organization or internally
• Provide technical support in customer discussions, presentations and workshops
• Check 2G, 3G and LTE parameter consistency, tune and optimize the network to improve throughput, accessibility, retainability and mobility
• Handle customer complaints and provide explained solutions
• Audit network parameters and recommend fixes for inconsistencies
• Implement features and recommend parameter settings to improve data services
• Take part in developing the service portfolio
• Engage with C-level executives at the customer site to present project updates, strategy, risks and recommendations
• Mentor less experienced colleagues and lead day-to-day operations
• Work with sales and accounts teams to drive add-on sales and new business, and with Managed Services teams to coordinate common activities

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in RF design, initial tuning and optimization
• 5 years of proven tuning expertise on a mature network
• Good knowledge of telecom portfolios
• Leadership, communication and presentation skills; fluent English, written and spoken (Portuguese is a plus)

• Data collection tools such as TEMs Investigation 13.0
• Statistical and performance analysis tools: Business Object, ENIQ, M2000, NETACT, FACTS, ITK
• Command handling, traffic observation and alarm management: WINFIOL, CME, MOSHELL, M2000
• Network planning and performance analysis: MAPINFO, MCOM, NEXPLORER
• RF small tools and macros such as Exert, Google Earth, PIANO, MAPSOURCE
