Resident Engineer – Water Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The Resident Engineer will act as the Engineer’s Representative under FIDIC Conditions of Contract for the Water Systems Infrastructure Upgrading Project in Namibe, Angola. The role involves coordinating design checks, supervising construction, and ensuring alignment between the Employer, Contractor and consulting team.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate design checking and construction supervision activities.
• Supervise works to verify compliance with contract, designs and technical specifications.
• Monitor work programmes, quality, progress and technical/contractual documentation.
• Lead the supervision team and technical specialists.
• Participate in site and coordination meetings with all stakeholders.
• Support contract administration in accordance with FIDIC conditions.

Required profile

• BSc in Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, Sanitary Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years post‑degree experience in water supply and/or sanitation projects.
• At least 5 years as Resident Engineer or Project Manager on FIDIC‑based contracts.
• Minimum 3 years professional experience in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Proficiency in Portuguese and English.
• Post‑graduate degree or experience on MDB‑financed projects is an advantage.
