Procurement Assistant

About the role

The Procurement Assistant will support FAO Angola in delivering procurement services for programmes and projects, ensuring compliance with FAO rules, regulations and internal procedures. Working under the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative (Administration), the incumbent will contribute to efficient, transparent, and value‑for‑money procurement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, issue and follow‑up on solicitation documents such as RFQs, ITBs and RFPs.
• Conduct market research, vendor sourcing and preliminary evaluations.
• Participate in local tender opening panels, Local Procurement Committee meetings and site inspections.
• Perform commercial and financial evaluations, prepare evaluation summaries and tabulations.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, trackers and filing systems (electronic and hard copy).
• Monitor delivery timelines, resolve routine procurement issues and support contract performance monitoring.
• Enter procurement data into corporate systems (e.g., GRMS, ServiceNow) and assist in preparing procurement plans.
• Support audit requests and liaise with programme, finance and logistics teams.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement support within an international or development context.
• Familiarity with FAO procurement rules or similar public‑sector procurement frameworks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
