Materials & Inventory Controller – Construction

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Materials & Inventory Controller with a Civil Engineering background and strong construction industry experience. The role involves controlling construction materials across stores and project sites, maintaining accurate inventory in the ERP system, monitoring consumption, and ensuring proper receipt, storage, issue and reconciliation of materials.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and control inventory of all construction materials, tools, equipment and consumables across warehouses and project sites.
• Ensure accurate recording of material receipts, issues, transfers, returns and consumption in the ERP/inventory system.
• Physically verify incoming materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, specifications and quantities.
• Maintain proper material coding, descriptions, units of measurement and classification in the system.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile against system inventory.
• Investigate and report stock shortages, excess quantities, discrepancies, damages and abnormal consumption.
• Monitor material consumption against project requirements, BOQ and planned quantities, highlighting significant variances.
• Coordinate material transfers between the central warehouse and construction sites.
• Supervise storekeepers to ensure inventory procedures are followed and prepare regular inventory, consumption and reconciliation reports for management.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in a construction company, handling materials/inventory for multiple projects.
• Strong practical knowledge of construction materials such as cement, reinforcement steel, structural steel, aggregates, blocks, formwork, scaffolding, tiles, sanitary, plumbing, electrical and MEP items.
• Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Excel and inventory reporting.
• Willingness to work hands‑on at warehouses and construction sites, not only office‑based.
