Harvesting and Marketing Director

About the role

The Harvesting and Marketing Director will lead all aspects of timber extraction and commercialisation for Esplendor Florestal, an Angolan sustainable forestry company backed by the sovereign wealth fund. This senior position integrates operational oversight of harvesting, road and logistics management with market development, contract negotiation and revenue optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual and quarterly harvesting plans aligned with inventory, age class and market demand.
• Oversee safe, efficient felling, extraction and loading operations while ensuring product quality.
• Coordinate road access, landing design, equipment utilisation and environmental compliance.
• Manage haulage, transport and delivery scheduling to optimise costs and reliability.
• Negotiate timber off‑take agreements, pricing, contracts and delivery terms with buyers and processors.
• Monitor market trends, pricing benchmarks and demand shifts to secure new markets.
• Prepare and control harvesting and logistics budgets, tracking cost per m³ and revenue performance.
• Obtain required licences, ensure full compliance with log inventory tracking and royalty payments.
• Lead road construction crews, contractors and harvesting teams to maintain reliable site access.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in forestry harvesting operations and timber marketing.
• Proven ability to develop and implement harvesting plans that meet inventory and market requirements.
• Strong knowledge of environmental standards, licensing and compliance in the forestry sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, cost control and revenue optimisation.
• Leadership experience managing contractors, road crews and multidisciplinary teams.
