Electrical Technician

About the role

The Electrical Technician is responsible for executing maintenance and preservation tasks on offshore vessels, ensuring equipment reliability and longevity while adhering to strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, housekeeping, blasting, spraying/painting, isolation, reinstatement, greasing, and preservation of topside items such as flanges, bolts and valves.
• Maintain and adjust electrical assets including systems, UPS batteries, generators, switchboards, motors, wiring and portable tools.
• Comply with authorization procedures, safe working practices and specific instructions.
• Complete maintenance and preservation within agreed timescales using safe methods and documented procedures.
• Plan and use resources and spares cost‑effectively.
• Ensure current operating requirements are available and that maintained assets continue to meet specifications.
• Record all maintenance actions accurately in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
• Monitor and assess performance and condition of electrical assets, gathering data from inspection ports, vendor documentation and instrument readings.

Required profile

• Demonstrated safety awareness and technical competence in maintenance and preservation work on vessels.
• Ability to communicate activities to the Electrical Supervisor and follow procedural guidelines.
• Authorization to perform electrical work as granted by the UEA or Fleet Electrical Assessor.
• Capability to work with subcontractors, visitors and vendor representatives.
