Communications Engineer – Offshore & Onshore Networks

About the role

The Communications Engineer will design, install, and maintain telecommunications and network infrastructure across onshore, offshore and site locations. Working closely with project managers, clients and global teams, the role delivers projects from concept through to client hand‑over and includes hands‑on installation, testing and fault diagnosis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support to Service Delivery Managers, Operations Teams and clients.
• Lead engineering scopes and associated technical activities.
• Manage interfaces across internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee time and task activity management.
• Design, write and maintain system documentation, network diagrams and field acceptance testing materials.
• Execute change management processes, including creation of CRQs.
• Install and configure infrastructure at local and remote locations.
• Troubleshoot and analyse diverse system architectures.
• Monitor systems proactively and diagnose technical issues.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of SD‑WAN and IP telephony technologies.
• Apply networking communication and routing protocols.
• Maintain advanced proficiency in network operating systems such as Cisco and Aruba.
• Diagnose or coordinate solutions for telecom systems including Platform General Alarm Systems, CCTV, Satellite Telephony, UHF/VHF radio and VSAT.
• Provide hands‑on support for FortiGate, Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba and Versa firewalls.
• Maintain and reconfigure the network lab for project testing.
• Apply understanding of Process Control Networks and cyber‑security vulnerabilities.
• Lead ongoing networking improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• BOSIET certification or willingness to obtain.
• MIST certification or willingness to obtain.
• Project commissioning experience.
• Strong working knowledge of infrastructure implemented in offshore and onshore facilities.
• Over 5 years’ experience in data communications and network infrastructure solutions.
• Technical assurance experience within an EPC environment in the oil and gas industry, preferably upstream gas.
• Knowledge of Edge, Access, Distribution and Transmission layers.
• Basic working knowledge of Versa SD‑WAN technology and configurations.
• Understanding of general practices and standards for data communication network infrastructure.
