Information Extraction Specialist

About the role

The Information Extraction Specialist will design, build, and maintain pipelines that transform unstructured and semi‑structured data into structured, high‑quality datasets. Working remotely, you will apply NLP, machine‑learning, and rule‑based techniques to a variety of document types, ensuring the extracted information meets strict accuracy standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement extraction pipelines for legal contracts, medical records, financial reports, news articles, and technical documentation.
• Create and manage high‑quality training datasets, define sampling strategies, and lead annotation teams.
• Evaluate model performance using precision, recall, and F1 metrics; analyse errors and iterate on guidelines or model architecture.
• Assess, integrate, and customise open‑source and commercial extraction tools and platforms.
• Develop scripts and automated workflows to streamline the extraction process.
• Adapt extraction systems to new domains quickly by acquiring domain knowledge and updating guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in information extraction, NLP, computational linguistics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and NLP tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to document complex guidelines clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate edge cases, conduct quality assurance, and propose data‑driven solutions.
