Social & Behavior Change Officer (P-2) – Temporary (364 days)

About the role

The Social & Behavior Change (SBC) Officer (P-2) will support UNICEF’s immunization, nutrition and child health programmes in Angola. Reporting to the Immunization Specialist and under the guidance of the Chief of Health & Nutrition, the officer will design, manage, monitor and evaluate evidence‑based SBC strategies for both development and humanitarian contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement inclusive SBC strategies aligned with UNICEF global guidance and Gavi 6.0 priorities.
• Strengthen community engagement mechanisms to reach zero‑dose and under‑immunized children.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building to government counterparts in the National Immunization Programme.
• Design, pilot and scale a national SBC package of interventions to embed demand‑generation activities.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of SBC interventions and report findings to senior management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, communication or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in behavior change, health communication or immunization programmes.
• Demonstrated experience working in development and/or humanitarian settings.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate evidence into actionable strategies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UNICEF SBC frameworks and Gavi immunization priorities.
• Experience in designing and evaluating behavior change interventions.
• Ability to facilitate stakeholder participation and capacity‑building workshops.
